Uit Peter van Maurik, burgemeester van Asperen, is een uitgebreid nageslacht gesproten, gesplitst in twee hoofdtakken. Door handel en landbouw hebben enige generaties een grote welstand onderhouden. In de Lingestreek, ook in Asperen, bloeide de paardenfokkerij. De Staten van Holland sloten daar belangrijke contracten af voor het leger met de Van Mouriks, Boellaards, van Doorns, die hun koopmanschap nog verder wisten uit te breiden onder de min of meer officiële titulatuur van commissaris van de ammunitiewagens en paarden ten dienste van de Staten.
