'Francis J. and Louise Johnke Family

Francis J. (Frank) Johnke, son of William and Anna Corth Johnke, was born at Sheldon, Iowa on June 16, 1884. At the age of two, he moved to Dakota Territory with his parents. The family moved to Delaware Twonship in 1896. Frank'sfather bough the southeast quarter of Section 16 in 1905 and the southwest quarter of Section 16 in 1906. Frank purchased the latter from his father in 1911 and moved there with his wife, Talka, daughter of Mr. and Mrs Jan Groen, andtheir son, William John. Francis L. (Fritz) and Harold F. were also born to this union. In May of 1920, when Harold was a baby, Talka died of diphtheria. ... William married Leola Runkel. They had three children: William, Gerry, and Sally. William pursued construction work and spent many years in Fairbanks, Alaska, and Olympia, Wash. He is now deceased. ...'
