Funeral Services Are Held Tuesday For Bert Gruis, 76

Funeral services for Wolbertes Gruis, 76, were held Tuesday afternoon, November 5 from the Ramsey REformed Church. Rev. John Janssen officiated, with Winter Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Richard Beenken, organist,accompanied a quartet of Fay Asche, Warner Smidt, Alvin Hopkes and Donald Tapper. Interment was in the Ramsey Reformed Cemetery with Rolland Fox, John Hamilton, Edward Boyken, Robert Lang, Henry Baade and Harm Huisinga serving aspallbearers.

Wolbertes Gruis was born August 20, 1892 near Ackley, Iowa, a son of Berend and Jennie Gruis nee Kuper. In 1893 he came with his parents to Buffalo Center and settled on a farm south of town. He was a communicant member of the RamseyReformed Church.

Mr. Gruis farmed with his sisters on the home place unitil 1957 when he and his sister, Minnie, moved to Titonka.

Several weeks ago he suffered a stroke and entered the hospital at Britt where he passed away on November 3, attaining the age of 76 years, 2 months and 13 days.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Fannie in 1944 and Minnie in 1964, and one brother, Herman in 1961. He leaves to mourn his passing many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends." <>
