Bielto (Bill) Penning was born July 16, 1887 at Austinville, Ia. He was a son of K. J. and Beulah Tiedens Penning. His boyhood days were spent near Austinville. He attended the Washington Reformed Church, Ackley, Ia., where he was baptized and confirmed. He attended the public schools in Butler County. On April 7, 1915 he was united in holy matrimony with Rally Redenius of Wesley, Ia. Th this union six children were born. They lived on a farm two miles north of Hutchins, Ia., from 1915 - 1920. In 1920 they moved to their own farm southwest of Buffalo Center where he resided until illness afflicted him. He was a communicant member of the Ramsey Reformed Church of Titonka and servid on theconsistory for a time. He was on the building committee when the present structure was remodelled and enlarged. He served on the German Township School Board for several year.

He suffered from cancer and his departure came after much suffering at the home of his son, Clarence, near Britt. He passed away at 9:25 a.m., Sunday, February 18, 1962. He attained the age of 74 years, 7 months and 2 days. He was a good father, a patient and courageous sufferer.

He was preceded in death by his parents, on sone, who passed away in infancy; a brother, John, during World War I; and his wife in 1949. Those who mourn his departure are the children, Clarence of Britt, Marvin of Kiester, Minn., John ofBritt, Robert of Wesley, and Thelma, Mrs Richard Beenken of Titonka; 18 grandchildren; his aged step-mother, Mrs K. J. Penning of Ackley; 4 brothers, Henry and Klaas of Waterloo, Andrew of Rock Rapids, Albert of Austinville; 5 sisters, Mame, Mrs. Andrew Lupkes, Sophia, Mrs. Arthur Jansonius, Lena, Mrs Henry B. Janssen; Hattie, Mrs. Rudolph Rotgers; Gussie, Mrs Dick Betten, all of Ackley. Besides these there are a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held on Thursday, February 22 at 1:00 p.m. from the Ramsey Reformed Church. Interment was in the church cemetery."

Thursday, February 22 and burial will be at the cemetery there."
