Family legend has George killed at the Battle of Waterloo (1815)
According to Old Oak (p 163) George Mayo was celebrated for his prowess with his fists & died after fighting a bully who had kicked a dog at a fair. George won the fight, but it took its toll & he died 6 months later ('in Waterloo year')

"To be sold by auction by P Jones Jun. On Thursday the 15th of June 1815 at four o'clock in the afternoon, at the Compasses, in Silston, near Towcester, unless in the mean time disposed of by private contract of which due notice will be given, subject to such conditions as will be then produced, either together or in lots as shall then be agreed upon. All that desirable estate, situate in Silston aforesaid, late the property and in the occupation of Mr GEORGE MAYO, deceased; consisting of a good stone-built messuage, with convenient outbuildings, yards, gardens, and other appurtenances thereto belonging, of a home;close adjoining, of about two acres of exceedingly rich pasture land, of three acres of arable land called Bufton, of about three acres and a half of rich pasture land called Grass-Croft, and of about 33 acres of very rich land, in the open fields of Silston, with common rights thereto belonging, in the said fields and in and over the extensive and rich forest of Whitlebury, in about the centre of which Silston is situate and, consequently the advantages thereof are very considerable. Silston is situate only four miles from Towcester, seven from Brackley, and the like from Buckingham, about 12 from Banbury, and the Turnpike Road from Northampton to Oxford goes through the Parish. The Estate may be seen by application to Mrs Mayo, widow, Mr Thomas Barford, and Mr Wm West, all of Silston; and further particulars known of them, and of Mr Kirby, Solicitor, in Towcester."
