Hij was heer van Vliet (beleend 28 Aug. 1733) en werd wegens zijn huis Vliet in de ridderschap van Utrecht beschreven 1 Dec. 1734. Hij was kapitein ter-zee, lid der Staten-Generaal, gecomm. wegens Utrecht in de Generalit.-Rekenkamer (welk ambt hij in 1742 aan zijn zoon overdroeg), en werd 8 Febr. 1740 wegens Utrecht gecomm. raad ter Admiraliteit van Amsterdam. Hij stierf nagenoeg insolvent, zoodat hij nauwelijks volgens zijn stand kon begraven worden en ligt met 4 kwartieren in de Catharinakerk te Utrecht begraven. Zijn huis Vliet werd aan den heer van Panhuys verkocht.
Zijn, door een onbekend kunstenaar, geschilderd portret is op huize Hardenbroek bij Doorn.
