    Antonius Jan van Zuijlen woont en werkt vóór en tijdens de oorlog te Amsterdam. Hij is schilder van beroep. Op 16 februari 1944 wordt in Amsterdam zijn huwelijk voltrokken. Hij woont met zijn vrouw in de Eerste Looiersdwarsstraat nummer 31. Hun huwelijk duurt maar kort; een half jaar later wordt Antonius op de fusilladeplaats nabij Kamp Vught gefusilleerd. Vijf september om half zeven in de vroege ochtend.
    De geallieerde troepen zijn dan al in de nabijheid; men kan op dat moment de kanonnen horen. Op 5 en 6 september wordt het Kamp Vught in grote haast ontruimd. De gevangenen worden naar Duitsland getransporteerd. Met uitzondering van degenen die nog worden geëxecuteerd op deze data. Onder hen ook Antonius van Zuijlen.
