Eind 1747 overlijdt Maria van Achtmael in Roosendaal. Dit is wellicht te wijten aan de oorlogsomstandigheden in West-Brabant. De Fransen hebben in 1747 Bergen op Zoom veroverd na een lang beleg, en de oorlogshandelingen vonden veelal plaats rondom de woonplaats van Maria. Eten werd geconfisceerd, bezittingen geroofd, boeren werden gedwongen om versterkingen aan te leggen, vee werd gestolen, ziektes braken uit. Het kan zijn dat dit alles heeft bijgedragen aan de dood van Maria. De begrafenisaantekening is echter heel kort en zakelijk, zonder verdere toevoegingen.
