Notes about Isabel de Brus

"(-----), sister of ROBERT I [SCT], and daughter of Robert (BRUCE orBRUS), afterwards EARL OF CARRICK"; m. Thomas Randolph. [CompletePeerage]

-------------------

He [Robert de Brus] m. (2) Eleanor by whom he had Isabel, m. ThomasRandolph, Chamberlain of Scotland. Eleanor m. (2) Sir Richard de Waleys, and d. between 13 Apr and 8 Sep 1331. [Magna Charta Sureties]

Note: MCS & state that Eleanor was 2nd wife, but Isabel & ThomasRandolph's son, also a Thomas Randolph, according to Burke's Peerage & ,became Earl of Moray in 1312 & fought at Bannockburn in 1314. If Isabelwasn't born until 1292/3 then Thomas would have been very young in 1312 &1314 (ie. If Isabel gave birth at 10 years old, Thomas would have justbeen born in 1312). Therefore Isabel was definitely daughter of a firstwife, I think Margaret/Marjorie, since all 3 sources say she was 1st wife(this would make her a full-blooded sister of Robert I the Bruce-- didn'tsay "half-sister"). If Eleanor was mother of Isabel & his 2nd wife, thenthe only explanation would be that Eleanor was a long-time mistress whobore Isabel before/early-in his marriage and finally married him afterhis wife died.
