Notes about Sarah McCammon Coleman

Sarah and Mary were twins. In the picture at left, Sarah is on the left and Mary on the right. Looking at their faces they seem to have been fraternal twins rather than identical twins. William C. Coleman married Mary first, in 1867 and after her death in 1868, he married her sister Sarah. Sarah is the mother of all of the children. This picture is made from a tintype that was in the possession of Sarah's daughter, Maggie M. Coleman. Upon Maggie's death in 1909, it passed to her 9 year old daughter, Lillie Mae Catledge, then to my mother, Lillie's eldest daughter, Alma Jean Jernigan. The twins are buried side by side in Beulah Cemetery, near Weir, in Choctaw County Mississippi.
