Notes about Lulu Shippey Miller

Mary Lula Shippey was adopted by her mother's cousin Lydia McMillan and husband Roger Miller sometime after 1870.  She was called Lulu S. Miller for the rest of her life, but she was clearly aware of her relationship to Lewis and Marion Adelia Montanye Shippey.  "Lou Miller" of Wilkes-Barre is called a niece in the obituary of her aunt Fannie Montanye Weiss in 1931. Lulu's own niece, Alice Schoonover, was living with her in Wilkes-Barre for the census of 1920.
