Ragan Peter "R.P." Wilson, Jr. 76, a retired salesman, died Monday, February 4, 2002, at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland.  Visitation is 5-7 p.m. today and 9 a.m. Wednesday at Wright & Ferguson Funeral Home in Ridgeland.  Services are 10 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with burial in Jessamine Cemetery in Ridgeland.

Mr. Wilson was born on November 30, 1925 In Clarksdale to Ragan P. and Clara Gertrude Wilson Sr.  He graduated from Clarksdale High School and attended North Carolina State College.

He was a Veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army.  He served in the European Theater as a paratrooper with the 101st Airborne Division.  Before retiring, he worked in the Industrial and Elecriical Supply Business.  He was a member of the Holly Bush Methodist Church, the American Legion Post 1, and the Chimneyville Bottle Club.

Survivors include: his wife of 36 years, Virgie M. Wilson of Pelahatchie, son, Jack Case Wilson and wife Anne of Brentwood, Tenn.; step-son, Johnny Thomas of Pearl; grandchildren Christina Black of Brandon, Jennifer Riley of Dallas, Texas, Twylah Beard of Pearl, and Stephanie Thomas of Winona; step great-grandchildren, Daniel Black, Brooke Beard, and Madeline Beard; and two sisters, Louise Baker and Marjorie Smith, both of Clarksdale.

Memorials may be made to Hospice Ministries, Inc., 450 Towne Center Blvd. Ridgeland, MS 39157, or to Holly Bush Methodist Church, Pelahatchie, MS.
