5.ba         Mathildis van Ninove (° ca 1137) huwde met Gerard II Berthout van Grimbergen (° ca. 1140/49 - 1188), heer van Ninove, Rumst en deels van Grimbergen, fs. Wouter & Bonne van Loon. Gerard II was lid van de Johanieter Orde[47]. Onder hun bewind werd een nieuwe abdij gebouwd tussen 1157 en 1166 ten noorden van de stad op de gronden aan de Koudeberg[48]. In 1166 namen de monniken hun intrek in de nieuwe abdij en in 1174 werd de abdijkerk van Ninove gewijd[49].
