Update 2017. Alkmaarse Geestmolen draait weer: "Het werd wel tijd ook".
De molen is weer helemaal compleet en klaar om de Egmondermeer te bemalen.

Update november 2016. De nieuwe roeden zijn donderdag 17 november geplaatst. Een week daarvoor werd een nieuwe as in de molen geplaatst. Komende week zal het hekwerk in de roeden gezet worden. De Geestmolen kan daarna weer draaien. (Bron: TV-NH, 18-nov-2016)
15jan2015. De Geestmolen heeft ernstige averij opgelopen door de storm van 15jan2015. De as brak af en het gevlucht viel in het water. Uiteraard was de molen door dit ernstige ongeval een tijdlang niet draaivaardig. In februari 2016 kwam de mededeling dat nieuwe roeden besteld zijn.
zie AFBEELDING. Ten Bruggencatenummer 00360. De Geestmolen is gebouwd in 1565. Hij staat aan het Hoeverpad 10 (tegenover Hoeverpad 13) in Alkmaar. Het is een grote poldermolen van het type grondzeiler, een achtkante bovenkruier. Bedoeld om de Geestmolenpolder droog te houden. Hiervoor was de molen voorzien van een houten scheprad om het lager gelegen polderwater uit te slaan in de hoger gelegen Schermerboezem. Het apparaat is nu toegerust met een ijzeren vijzel van 1,60 meter. De molen heeft een binnenkruirad en een vlucht/rad van 24,80 / 25.00 meter. Het eiken achtkant is met riet gedekt, op lage voet. De onderste circa twee meter gedekt met gepotdekselde geteerde planken. De Geestmolen is op 15 januari 2015 zwaar beschadigd geraakt door storm. Na bijna twee jaar van stilstand is er inmiddels vergevorderde actie om de stormschade aan de molen te verhelpen en hem weer maalvaardig te krijgen. Over de biotoop van de molen wordt omgemerkt dat hij aan alle kanten is ingebouwd door hoogbouw.
