Hij woonde in 13-01-1902 in Soerabaja.
Hij liet in ca 1915 een nieuw huis bouwen aan de A.Gogelweg 4 op perceel kad. N. I 1614 en (I 1615 bouwterrein). Oud nr was N 6408.
Architect was Eduard Cuypers te Amsterdam. Naam van villa Huize Simpang.
Hij verkocht dit huis in ca 1927 aan R.C.Hartman, bouwkundige, wonende Valkenbosplein 21 den Haag. In 1932 woonde R.C. Hartman A.Gogelweg nr 6.
Ir J.A. Stoop vertrok op 27 dec.1927 met zijn dochter naar Straatweg 777, Wassenaar.
Dit huis werd in 1922 gebouwd voor G. de Wel, Architect A.H.Wegeriff te Apeldoorn. Het huis is in 2000 bekend onder de naam Huis Dewel.
Volgens de ovl. advertenties was Ir J.A. Stoop Pres.Comm. van Perlak Petroleum Mij. NV. en ook comm. van A.Hillen's Sigarenfabriek te Delft.
Hij had in Wassenaar 3 dienstboden n.l.
