til Algestrup (1759), Egemarke (1759) (begge i Føllenslev s., Skippinge h.) og stamhuset Barnersborg (1768), 1738 sekondløjtnant ved Livgarden til Fods, 11. maj 1739 premierløjtnant i Holstenske Kompagni af Fynske nation. Inf.reg., 24. januar 1753 afsked som karakt. major, 24. december 1756 påny ansat, ansøgte 14. februar 1761 om oberstløjtnants karakter, hvilket blev »akkorderet«, 25. april 1769 oberst, 29. marts 1770 karakter generalmajor, fik 1759 skøde på Algestrup, og Egemarke af sin svigerfar og arvede 1768 stamhuset Barnersborg efter Jochim Hartwig Johann von Barner.

 

Agnaterne af Generalmajor Helmuth Gotthardt Barner (1714-1775), der naturaliseredes 3. Juli 1873. Slægten er mecklenborgsk Uradelsslægt, der kan føres tilbage til Otto Bannert 1302. Oprindelig er Slægten maaske af normannisk Oprindelse og er omkring Aar 1000 kommet fra Italien til Tyskland. Geheimeraad Joachim Hartvig Barner (1699-1768), Amtmand over Kalundborg, Herre til Vedbygaard, som han oprettede til Stamhuset Barnersborg, blev 31. Marts 1759 Hvid Ridder med Motto: »Gott und dem Könige allein soll mein Herz dankbar seyen«.
