Thomas J Poteet lived in Jasper Co IA and Jane Poteet Harp lived in Marion Co IA. These counties are next to each other. They both lived in Red Rock, Marion Co IA in the 1854 state cenus.
In a letter written 26 Jul 1868, from J S Douglass and Ellen Poteet Douglass to James W Harp they mention “How sorry we were to hear of the death of our beloved Brother T. J. Poteet and to witness the last of Brother B. O. Poteet. They were dear relative of our, But the Lord giveth and the Lord taketh away and we hope their temporal destruction will be their everlasting goal.” James W Harp’s wife was Jane Poteet Harp. This implies that a B O Poteet and a T J Poteet were Ellen Poteet Douglass and Jane Poteet Harp’s brothers and were dead by 26 Jul 1868.
