I am making the assumption that the Bertha I Matlock born 12 Jul 1817 listed in The Family Bible of William Matlock and Catharine Sevier transcription is Jane Matlock the daughter of David C Matlock and Martha D Armstrong. Since the Bible record is only a transcription, I cannot see the original. I have noticed that in old handwriting a J sometimes looks like an I to modern readers. So Bertha I Matlock could really be Bertha Jane Matlock.
