En 1770, ils firent vendre en vente publique, des terres qu'ils possédaient dans la juridiction de Villers-le-Peuplier, soit 4 verges grandes pour un prix de 13 écus 1/2 et 5 sols la verge grande; une autre pièce d'un demi journal resta à l'exposant pour 11 écus la verge grande. Martin NIHOUL était agriculteur à Moxhe et tenait en location des sieurs SALMON et ROMAINVILLE, représentants de feu Arnold GRAMME, 16 verges grandes de terre sous Moxhe, depuis 1753. Son père Emmanuel tenait les mêmes terres en location depuis 1709. Martin acquit vers la même époque de Jean-Mathieu Le CRANE, pour lors mineur d'âge, deux pièces de terre de 3 et 5 verges grandes et les paya au total 81 écus. Avec sa femme, il dicta leur testament conjonctif vers 1787-88, devant le notaire DORMAL de Ciplet, testament exécuté le 8 germinal an IV (28 mars 1796). Leurs enfants Pierre-François et Martin recevaient chacun deux chevaux à leur choix, une vache et son veau, un chariot et du matériel de labour, ainsi que la maison avec grange, étable et autres bâtiments, le verger, enclos et jardin, et 100 battes de fourrage. Les cinq autres enfants vivant à cette époque reçurent chacun 15 florins de rente annuelle dus par Pierre HENQUIN et Jean-Joseph GINETTE, de Moxheron. Emmanuel enfin devait recevoir de Pierre-François et Martin ensemble, 120 florins. Le reste des biens devait être partagé entre les sept légataires par parts égales. Les testateurs ajoutaient que serait déshérité celui des enfants qui s'opposerait au legs ou au partage tels que les établissaient leurs parents.
