Het is niet helemaal duidelijk dat Matthijs de zoon is van deze Johanna Bleij. Zijn moeder wordt aangeduid als een alleenstaande moeder met de naam "Johanna Blij". Dat zou dezelfde kunnen zijn. Bij haar huwelijk wordt één kind erkend. Dat kan Matthijs zijn, want hij is eerder geboren. Matthijs noemt zijn kind "Hendrik" en dat is weer de naam van de vader van deze Johanna.
