Notes about Erik Jacobsz

Historie van Enkhuizen 1666: De andere zoon, Erik Jacobsz, is Schepen van Enkhuizen geweest tussen 1602 en 1603. Deze had een zoon Barend Eriksz, de man van de Guinea Compagnie: hij voer 14 maal naar West-Afrika. Bekend is hij geworden door de gevangenschap bij de zeerovers. Diens zoon, Erik Barentsz, wordt in de Enkhuizer kroniek genoemd bij een massaal verlies van haringbuizen aan de Duinkerker zeerovers in 1636; de beschermende vloot, waarbij Erik Barentsz als een der kapiteins voer, werd beschuldigd niet voldoende bescherming gegeven te hebben en o.m. werd daarom Erik als kapitein afgezet.
