In the transcribed 1880 census wife Mary is listed as Mary SIMMS in the household of her son-in-law Jonathan Faulk. Is this a transcribing error or was her husband a Simms rather than a Simmons? Do not think so - Tabitha is listed as a Simmons in her marriage record.
Tabitha married Wm. Randall Faulk and Stephen and Milton are going by the Faulk name, although her husband died in 1865.
There is a Civil War record for a J. W. Simmons, alternate name William J. Simmons. 4th NC Cavalry, Co. F 59th NC Troops - for this Simmons?
