William R. Faulk was born in 1819 in North Carolina and died January 28, 1865 while a POW at Elmira, Chemung County, New York. He is buried in Woodlawn National Cemetery at Elmira, grave #1658/ He married (1) Rebecca C. _________ who was born in 1822 in South Carolina and (2) Tabitha Simmons: References are: Horry County, South Carolina 1850 census, page 4 45-45; Columbus County, North Carolina deed book G, page 285; and Sandy Plains cemetery near Tabor City, North Carolina. He served as a Private in Company C, 18th North Carolina Infantry, CSA

William R. Faulk was one of four confederate brothers.

Born in Columbus County and was by occupation a farmer prior to enlisting in Columbus County at age 42, April 24, 1861. Present or accounted for until discharged on July 16, 1862, by reason of being over age. Reenlisted in the company on October 21, 1863, and was present and accounted for until captued at Spotsylvania Court House, Va, May 12, 1864. Confined at Point Lookout, MD, until transferred to Elmira, NY, August 3, 1864. Died at Elmira on January 28, 1865 of "erysipelas".
