Notes about Margaret HOWARD

While shown in The Complete Peerage and Ancestral Roots as daughter of Sir John Howard and Margaret de Plaiz, her parentage has recently come under suspicion. Ronny Bodine, posting on SGM, points out the tight chronology and cites Roskell's History of Parliament, which states that Margaret Howard was the sister of Sir John Howard, not his daughter. This would affect the Plaiz line, as well as several collateral lines, including Percy of Kildale, Stapleton, and Fitz Alan, but rather than remove them at this time, the author has opted to keep them in place until this can be substantiated and also for the use of those who may have other connections to these lines. Because of this no additional information has been added to those lines which may be affected. Source: www.geneajourney.com
