Angeline Ruth Schipper, 78, of Waverly, Iowa, and formerly of Parkersburg, died peacefully in her sleep on Monday, May 11, 2009, at the Hiawatha Care Center, Hiawatha, Iowa, following a stroke.
She was born on February 14, 1931, in Butler County, Iowa, the daughter of Tom and Etta (Reiter) Dreesman. She began her schooling at Parkersburg, Iowa, and then attended various schools around the Butler-Bremer area as her parents farmed several farms while she was young. Angeline graduated from the Allison High School, and on January 10, 1950, she was united in marriage to Andrew J Schipper at the Reformed Church Parsonage, Allison. The couple then farmed over the next five years on several farms near Allison, and in 1955, they moved to Parkersburg and retired from farming. During this time, Angeline raised her family and cared for their home. She always had a talent for sewing, and made clothing for her family: there was nothing that she could not sew. She made brides dresses, wedding party dresses, and prom dresses for many people. She created quilts, wall hangings and pillows, as well as many other crafts with her fancy work. In 2001, Andrew and Angeline moved to Waverly.
She was a member of Grace Baptist Church, Waverly, where she was involved with Women's Bible study and attended worship services. She loved life and never let the human toils get her down. Angeline was a very positive person who saw the good in everything.
She is survived by her husband, Andrew J Schipper of Waverly; her three daughters, VerJean (R. Winston Slater) Mirrielees of Hampshire, Illinois, LaVonne (John) Card of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, RaeLynn (Frank) Warren of Imperial Beach, California; two grandsons, Matt & Ryan Warren of Imperial Beach; two sisters, Esther (Chester deceased) Lageschulte of Waverly, Norma (Frank) Zahn of Dubuque, Iowa; five brothers, Ernest (Barbara deceased) Dreesman of Keystone, Iowa, Fred (Kay) Dreesman of Waverly, Eugene (Betty) Dreesman of Clarksville, Iowa, Dick (Velda) Dreesman of Waverly, Larry (Mary) Dreesman of Waverly; one brother-in-law, John J (Trena) Schipper of Aplington, Iowa; two sisters-in-law, Wilma (George J deceased) Schipper of Aplington, Amelia (Steno J deceased) Schipper of Allison. She was preceded in death by her parents; three siblings in infancy; three brothers-in-law, George J Schipper, Steno J Schipper, Chester Lageschulte; and one sister-in-law, Barbara Dreesman.
