BURGE-OLIVER WEDDING AT
CHUDLEIGH
The Chudleigh Methodist Church
was the scene of a pretty wedding on
Saturday, August 9, at 2.30 p.m., when
Gladys Mary, younger daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. W. A. Oliver, formerly of
"Olive Dale," Chudleigh, was married
to Loyden Leslie, youngest son of the
late Mr. and Mrs. W. Burge, late of
Queenstown.
The tall bride chose white embossed
satin for her wedding gown, which had
a heart-shaped neckline and was
slightly trained. She wore a single
string of pearls and a beautifully em
broidered veil which was kindly lent
by Mrs. Younger, of Launceston. Her
bouquet consisted of Japanese camel
lias, winter roses and fern.
The bride was attended by her sister,
Joy, who wore a deep shell pink satin
frock with covered buttons from the
neckline to the waist at the back, and
slight fulness in the front. Pink car
nations were worn in her hair, and
also composed her bouquet.
Little Heather Purse looked sweet in
an ankle length shell pink taffeta frock,
trimmed with net frills and tiny silver
true lovers' knots. She carried a
dainty silver basket of pink carnations
and wore a wreath of rosebuds in her
hair.
Master Geoffrey Ashdown hung a
horseshoe on the bride's arm as she
left the church.
The bridegroom was attended by
Mr. Len Sinfield as best man.
The bride's mother wore a smart
nigger coat and hat, and carried an
autunmn posy to tone.
The church was attractively deco
rated by friends of the bride. Miss
Sheila Scott presided at the organ, and
during the signing of the register, Miss
E. Purse, of Launceston, sang "I'll
Walk Beside You."
Rev. Cyril Stroud, of Launceston,
performed the ceremony. The Chud
leigh branch of the Red Cross Society
catered for the reception which was
held in the Town Hall. The attractive
two-tiered wedding cake was made by
the bride's mother.
The bride travelled in a rose pink
frock, with brown hat and accessories,
over which she wore a brown fur fab
ric coat, the gift of the bridegroom.
Mr. and Mrs. Loyden Burge will re
side in Launceston.
The bouquets were supplied by Mr.
B. J. Wise, Crabtrees Chambers, Studio
(Upstairs), York-street, Launceston.Quelle 5
