In 1916 Patience was the last Prudden living in Hexton. Her family had lived in the village for over 400 years. She was living in one of the old thatched cottages but died in the Hitchin Union Infirmary.

1911 aged 67, living at Hexton with her married nephew and niece in law, Charles F and Alice Prudden, and grand niece May Woodfield.
