Concerns the originally Jewish Van Emden family from Amsterdam, a branch of which settled in Paramaribo and later became the founder of the Kwatta chocolate factory in Breda.

The period before 1850 was created in close collaboration with Rob Jansen in Amsterdam. In the twentieth century, assistance was obtained from the Van Emden family. The data for the Australian branch d'Emden comes from John Freeman.
