Ik ben Simon Hendricus SMITHUIS geboren op 18 April 1967 te 's-gravenhage. Ik ben geintereseerd in alle gegevens omtrent personen met de familienaam SMITHUIS. Hiermee probeer ik de stambomen die ik inmiddels heb zo volledig mogelijk te maken. Mocht u in mijn stamboom het %teken aantreffen, dan heb ik van deze akte een Word document gemaakt en is dan ook op te vragen bij mij.
Een groot deel van deze gegevens heb ik te danken aan Albertus(Bertus) H.M. Smithuis, priester, overleden in 1996 te Haaksbergen, die al een groot gedeelte van de familiestamboom in kaart had gebracht, welke gegevens door zijn neef L.Otto.M.J. Smithuis zijn bijgewerkt en mij ter hand gesteld".
Als je weet waar je vandaan komt dan weet je ook waar je naar toe moet. En dat zou betekenen dat we naar Twente zouden moeten gaan, want onze familie komt voort uit Ootmarsum en de plaatsen daar rondom zoals Agelo en Tubbergen.
In Ootmarsum vind men dan ook de Smithuisstraat, vernoemd naar de aartspriester van Twente Henricus Smithuis die vanuit Duitsland de grens overkwam en in Ootmarsum onder de "Kroezeboom" zijn preken hield.
