Van de kerkeraad kwam een kort antwoord binnen, dat hij het voorstelniet in overweging kon nemen. Op 1 november 1887 werd weer ten huizevan de weduwe Van der Zijl (grootmoeder van prof. P. Sj. Gerbrandy)vergaderd en daar verklaarde de heer F. S. J. Gerbrandy zich bereideen lokaal te bouwen op een stukje grond, dat zijn eigendom was en dattegenover de christelijke school lag. Hier staat nog de gereformeerdekerk. De 26ste februari kon het houten noodkerkje in gebruik wordengenomen met een preek van dr. L. Wagenaar te Heeg.
Er werd nog verder met de kerkeraad gecorrespondeerd en ook schijnt ereen samenspreking geweest te zijn in juni 1888, in de hoop, zoals ds.Nierstrasz schreef, "een scheur door broederlijke bespreking tevoorkomen". Deze wens is echter niet vervuld. Van beide kanten meendemen om des gewetens wille op het ingenomen standpunt te moeten blijvenstaan en op de 8e juli 1885 werden door S. J Gerbrandy. W. G. Jellemaen S. R. Westra de stemgerechtigde leden die "naar de terugkeer deroude paden staan" tot een vergadering uitgenodigd, om twee ouderlingenen twee diakenen te verkiezen.
