De oudste, ons nu bekende, voorvader trouwt te Rotterdam in december 1595.
Bruidegom Heyndrick van der Nyerop , afkomstig uit Antwerpen , caasmaker [causmaeker]
Bruid Magdalena van Loon , afkomstig uit Antwerpen.
Als gevolg van de contra-reformatie in de Zuidelijke Nederlanden, voelden veel protestantse kooplui en handwerkslieden zich bedreigd en vluchtten naar het Noorden.
De families van Mierop en van Loon behoorden vrijwel zeker tot die vluchtelingen.
Tot op heden hebben we de voorouders van Hendrik van den Mierop nog niet kunnen vinden. Als u een suggestie hebt, dan houden wij ons aanbevolen.
